Bearing Witness: Spatializing Memory and Documentation
October 7 Archive A Retrospective Look at 3 Years of Documentation and Memorialization
Western Negev | October 2026

In partnership with the National Library of Israel, NUR developed a cutting-edge 3D spatial platform of the Gaza envelope - the epicenter of the October 7 attacks - to mark three years since the events. The project introduces a new methodology for spatializing archival data, establishing a fresh approach to presenting historical records by mapping data directly to place Designed to present the Bearing Witness October 7 Archive, the platform transforms individual and collective narratives into a grounded, geospatial story of the region.
The platform bridges the traumatic events of that day with personal and national memory, preserving the stories of affected individuals, families, and communities for future generations.

The platform integrates three core analytical and narrative layers:
Chronological Event Mapping: Spatial tracking of events starting from 06:29 throughout the entire day.
Multimodal Testimonies: Photographs, messages, audio recordings, testimonies and personal accounts preserved and displayed side by side in their geographic context.
October 7 National Authority File: Integration of personal identities projected directly onto the 3D terrain and linked to the National Library’s archival database.
The project will be presented at the National Library in Jerusalem from October 7–15, 2026. and is open to the public. The visit is free of charge. Advance registration is required
